Cherokee Garden Club Community Fund

Grant Application Guidelines

The Cherokee Garden Club Community Fund was created in 2008 by the Cherokee Garden Club as a nonprofit organization for the purpose of expanding community outreach furthering the goals of our mission statement:

The purpose of the Cherokee Garden Club Community Fund is to protect, improve, and restore the environment of the surrounding community through programs and actions in the field of education and conservation.” 

The Community Fund awards grants to qualified projects that fall within the scope of our mission statement.  Organizations interested in receiving grants must submit proposals for consideration.  Historically, grant amounts have ranged from $1,000 to $5,000.  

General Guidelines:

    • Requesting organizations should have 501(c)(3) IRS status.
    • Proposals must fall within the Cherokee Garden Club Community Fund stated purpose.
    • Preference is given towards grant requests in the Atlanta Metro area.
    • Please be as specific as possible as to how grant money will be used.
    • Grants will not be approved for operating funds or endowments.
    • Grant recipients should utilize the funds within one year of receipt
    • Recipients will be required to submit a six (6) month update and a final report detailing the execution of the project and its impact once the project is completed.
    • Grant requests must be submitted by January 24 to cherokeegc.commfund@gmail.com.  Late requests will not be considered and will need to be re-submitted the following year.

Grant requests will be evaluated by the Community Fund Board who may request additional information or schedule a site visit at your project.  After final approval, successful applicants will be notified and funds will be disbursed in May.
